European Recycling Platform: consumer-focused battery recycling website

Out of the TV remote, into the bin and into landfill. It’s a sad fact that in the UK we currently recycle only a fraction of the amount of batteries we use (around 5%). The European Recycling Platform (ERP) exists to change this, and they chose Point 6 to design and build their first dedicated consumer-focused website.

Using postcode finder functionality, consumers can now find their nearest bright red ERP recycling box. As the idea is adopted and recycling box locations increase, ERP hope to boost the recycling of batteries in the UK somewhere towards that of our EU counterparts – Germany for example recycle around 50% of their batteries. As well as recovering valuable materials, recycling saves energy and, crucially, fewer batteries go into landfill, causing less soil and water pollution.
