The soul of the sport
Motor Sport digital development
While still very much connected to Formula 1 and the contemporary racing world, ‘the original motor racing magazine’ has been trackside since 1924, reporting on the personalities, feats and heroics that have made racing history. By 2007 they were in need of modernising. It was a chance to refresh their image, stay in-line with changing consumer media habits and boost subscriptions.
Website
Point 6 helped Motor Sport take its first steps into digital – we created their first ever website, featuring selected online content from the magazine – a mixture of opinion and insight, plus news and blogs and space for online advertisers. We also created an online shop to sell and gift subscriptions, DVD ‘decades’ archives and other merchandise. www.motorsportmagazine.co.uk
DVD archives
We created these ‘decades’ interactive archive DVDs and packs to capture the wealth of fantastic writing and imagery from years past. Chronicling every available issue from 1924 to today, they are for sale on the website that we also designed and built.
Email marketing
Cost effective and just plain effective – our statistics speak volumes. Sign-ups to emails increasing by 2% each month. Open rates averaging between 40-55% month on month. Click-through rates between 22-55% month on month. As a result of all this combined activity Motor Sport has enjoyed two consecutive years of magazine subscriptions rising by 10%.
Damien Smith, Editor, Motor Sport magazine:
“Motor Sport has very specific brand values and it is imperative that these are reflected in our website. Point 6 took this on board immediately and delivered a website that sits perfectly with the magazine. I’m grateful for their commitment to our title.”
