Point 6 wishes you a Merry Christmas

Plant a tree. Grow some flowers. Cut some carbon.

This year we’ve taken a green approach to Christmas and hopefully you’ve received one of our special cards containing something special inside. We’ve also signed up to the 1010 commitment, pledging to reduce our carbon emissions by at least 10% in 2010. Everyone can join and make a difference. More at www.1010uk.org

And with your environment in mind, our 2009 Christmas card features a plantable tree full of wildflower seeds. Below are our Point 6 simple steps to helping make your 2010 a little greener. You may not be planting a rainforest, but you’ll soon be able to enjoy some wildflowers. And hopefully we’ve planted a little seed in your mind too.

If you missed out on our Christmas card or would like another, please get in touch and we’ll send one out to you. Contact Point 6.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year from everyone here at Point 6.

Planting your tree. Yan shows us how!

Step 1

Remove your tree from the card (or you can use both together). We’ve chosen to plant the tree separately.

Step 1

Step 2

Make a shallow trench big enough to lay your tree in. About 1-2 cm beneath the topsoil is perfect.

Step 2

Step 3

Plant the whole tree flat and cover over with earth or compost (ideally peat-free or ethically sourced).

Step 3

Step 4

Water well and keep watering over the coming weeks. Don’t allow to dry out.

Step 4

Step 5

Enjoy seeing your wildflowers grow. You should see shoots appear in early spring. We’ll let you know how ours is doing on these pages.
