Junior Designer

About us

Point 6 is an integrated agency of about twenty people. We have a beautiful studio in Queen's Park which is open every day — but we have a flexible working approach, with just one core day a week when we all go in. The rest of the time, it's up to you where you work as long as you're comfortable. There's a lot to learn in this role, but we have a strong onboarding culture and are proactive and hands-on when it comes to training. We value self-development and empower every member of our team to follow their passions both in work and outside of it.

We're not a party-til-dawn kind of studio, but we're a friendly, sociable bunch who enjoy regular lunchtime and afterwork trips to the various local pubs. We often use our core agency day to catch up with one another, something that is encouraged by the directors. Like everyone, we've spent far too much time apart over the last few years and relish the opportunity to come together and build the meaningful relationships that form the solid foundations of a successful agency. All in all, we adopt a people-first approach in everything we do and it translates into thoughtful, high-quality work.

About you and the role

We've won new work and are looking for a Junior Designer to expand our creative team.

This is a role best suited to someone who has first-hand experience of designing within brand guidelines at a leading design agency and can demonstrate a clear understanding of 'brand thinking' i.e. how best to create then articulate and implement a brand and its message.

There is a wealth of experience in our agency team, so the variety of projects you work on will start from a solid base of understanding of each brand – you'll get support from right across the team. On the flip side, on a craft level you'll be someone who is passionate about meticulous execution.

The work we do covers many sectors – from parenting, lighting and sustainability to education, healthcare and health-tech brands. Our work ranges from brand creation to brand development, implementation and governance. If you can show some experience in one or more of these areas and/or sectors it will be a distinct advantage.

You should find orderliness satisfying and thrive in a process-driven environment. Having said that, you'll also be keen to stretch brands creatively. You'll be no stranger to working collaboratively and will thrive on working alongside other team members at every level – on a healthy mix of branding, design, digital, packaging and print projects.

The more strings to your bow you have the better — many of our team demonstrate multiple disciplines, such as repro, retouching and video editing. And although it's not a prerequisite for the role, it's certainly a bonus.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone cheerful, enthusiastic and collaborative, who will contribute to the positive, can-do atmosphere in the team and help us reach new creative heights. If you're reading this and nodding along, then this may well be the job for you!

A few key points

  • You're commercially focused and highly motivated, ideally with some industry experience, and you are looking to develop your career in a creative agency.
  • You'll have a good working knowledge of Adobe design software – specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint will be an advantage
  • You will be comfortable with presenting your ideas both internally and in client meetings and enjoy the challenge of being part of a pitch team looking to land new client work
  • You will have a passion for a great creative idea, a love for design and art direction and demonstrate good attention to detail
  • You will thrive in a well-structured, organised environment and not shy away from admin
  • Like the rest of the team, you will be client-facing — confidence in communicating face-to-face, over video calls and via email is a must
  • You will be able to juggle multiple projects comfortably and flag any potential conflicts with our super-organised account team well ahead of time
  • You will relish the opportunity to get involved with other aspects of Point 6, such as creating content for our social media channels, lending your expertise to other areas of the team, or helping to plan agency social events
  • You will have an appetite for growth and development, and value quarterly appraisals as chance to show that growth. How you develop within our business will be driven by your personal ambition
  • We'll invest in your training and development and support you to grow your skills.
